An incorporated City in Maricopa County, in the Phoenix West Valley, approximately 17 miles west of downtown Phoenix. In 1917, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company purchased roughly 16,000 acres in the area to grow long-staple Pima cotton for tire cord — an initiative associated with company executive Paul W. Litchfield, in the era before synthetic tire cord existed.
In May 1944, residents and property owners of the developing community formally selected the name "Goodyear," after the company that had developed the farmland. A post office was established November 22, 1944. The community incorporated as a Town on November 19, 1946 — at the time comprising 151 homes, 250 apartments, and a small handful of local businesses — and achieved City status in 1985.

Estrella Mountain Regional Park — located at 14805 W. Vineyard Ave.; over 16 square miles of the park sit within Goodyear's city limits, but it is owned and operated by Maricopa County, not the City of Goodyear — it should be described as "located within Goodyear, operated by Maricopa County" rather than as a Goodyear city park.
Excluded/corrected: The Tres Rios Wetlands (a roughly 700-acre restoration site) is a City of Phoenix project, not a Goodyear facility. The related "Tres Rios Nature Festival" is held at Estrella Mountain Regional Park and is jointly promoted by the City of Goodyear and the City of Avondale — it is a shared regional event, not Goodyear-exclusive.

PebbleCreek is confirmed within Goodyear city limits, and its own governing rules require at least 80% of dwelling units to have at least one occupant age 55 or older, with the community formally structured to qualify for the Fair Housing Act's "adult community" exemption. This restriction applies specifically to PebbleCreek and should never be generalized to Goodyear as a whole, which is a large general-population city.
